FAQ

Are you offering in person counselling?

Yes, I take clients in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1587 West 8th Avenue in Vancouver. All other sessions are virtual using a Canadian web application (JaneApp) or Zoom.

Can you work with me if I do not live in Canada?

Yes. I can work with international clients, however, there are some places that have strict regulations on who can offer therapy. These regulations are changing all the time so I offer coaching to international clients. Please book a consult to discuss what that would look like for you.

What is your approach to counselling?

Whether we are looking at issues that require addressing the past, or are looking more at present and future goals, my approach is the same. I work with a client centred, trauma informed lens with the intention of helping you process what is getting in the way of you feeling your best. I work holistically meaning I incorporate your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self. I approach everything with attention to the social and cultural context. I am aware of my own positionality and potential biases and invite feedback from my clients. My intention is to create a safe space for you to explore yourself without judgement and with the warmest regard. Please read more about my approach here.

What do we do in counselling?

Our sessions together will consist mostly of having conversations. In the first session(s), I often guide the conversation by asking a series of questions to get to know you and gain an understanding of what you want to explore in counselling. This may include going over an extensive intake form. Together, we will discover what ways of working that resonates with you. Often I incorporate body awareness, breath, and mindfulness so we can work with all parts of you, not just your cognitive side. I will always check in with you about what works for you and what doesn’t and am open to feedback. I want you to know that I am not the expert of you, you are the expert of you. This is a relationship of equality, not hierarchy.

What can I expect from the free consultation?

Going to therapy with someone new for the first time can be intimidating. The consultation is about getting to know you and what you hope to get out of the therapy process. You can ask any questions you have about counselling or how I work. You will not be expected to share details of painful past experiences.

How much is your fee?
